After Nias visit today, I feel more confident how to approach training and dealing with my Husky pup. So much work to do, but I feel so encouraged and happy in we'll have an even better relationship with our boy from now on. Thank you so much
September 21, 20235 stars from Albie and us. Nia is a Fantastic trainer and behaviourist , in the past we have been in contact with quite a few and none have been able to help Albie as he isn’t your normal dog. Nia has changed his life and he’s so much happier , thank you 😊 x
March 8, 2023After realising that we had one spoilt french bulldog who wasn’t that fussed on strangers! After a 1:1 with Nia and some really useful tips, Reggie is on his way to being happy to meet new faces! Still working our way up to him liking the vet 👀😂 Can’t recommend Nia enough ☺️❤️
February 1, 2023Wow, wow, wow!! I am absolutely in love with Nia and her training. We’ve had only 1st 1:1 session today and I want Nia to move in😂 She’s amazing and just in 1 hour we’ve had so much information, we can’t wait to see her again🙌 Even our 3 year old Weimaraner was in love. She has amazing knowledge and you can see she loves working with dogs. I would highly recommend her to anyone!! Thank you so much and see you soon x

I am so grateful for the help you gave myself and peaches. I was so lost with how to help her and you solved it all in one visit. Thank you so much for the ongoing support after the visit. Highly recommended!! X
September 6, 2022Brilliant 1:1 visit from Nia a few weeks ago. We've been working on the skills shown and Chester is a changed dog! Highly recommend, thank you so much!
June 26, 2022We had Nia visit us recently to help with one of our bulldogs who had several issues including separation anxiety. We thought it would be really difficult to resolve these problems, but after two hours with Nia and the great work she did with us (more than the dog!), we’re in a different place! All sorted very quickly and we’re extremely pleased with the results. Very happy to say it was a pleasure to meet her and we have no hesitation in recommending Bark to Basics. Thanks so much
June 22, 2022After a 1:1 session with Nia , a few weeks ago, there has been a great improvement with Ted's recall and attention on walks. For the first time ever had an hours walk around a busy Margam park and he didn't pull me on the lead. Still working on his other issues, but glad we made contact, and further instructions will be helpful. Thank you Nia

Brilliant 1:1 session with Nia yesterday. As much training for us as Murphy. We will all be whipped into shape soon. Cannot recommend enough, she and we are going to make a lovely dog a great dog. 🐶
May 24, 2022I would highly recommend Nia she is so knowledgeable, I have a 3 year old rescue dobermann who has been through terrible trauma previously and social deprivation which resulted in him being very lead reactive to dogs and undesirable behaviour off lead. Nia taught me how to better engage and communicate with my dog using enrichment, she explained how dogs learn and how to recognise his body language when faced with triggers, its giving me more confidence which is being translated to him. It's a long road ahead but we are improving everyday.
March 13, 2022Highly recommended 🥰 come out last week and within an hour my dog was a completely different dog! Thank you so much 😊
March 12, 2022Just had my first session with Nia and she absolutely blew my mind I can’t believe the difference in my boy with one session. Couldn’t recommend her enough looking forward to my next session.

I cannot recommend this lady enough, her classes are amazing and personal to each dog. Thanks to Nia we have learnt how to give our dog the best chance of becoming a happy, healthy loveable family dog. Thank you for all the tips and for your patience x
January 23, 2022I wouldn’t think twice about recommending Nia to other dog owners. Our lives had become very difficult trying to ensure both our dog and baby were safe around one another. Nia was so kind and friendly and didn’t make us feel judged at all. She showed some very simple ideas which immediately worked at the session and then I was able to try them myself to make sure I was fully confident. I was able to ask many questions and I know I can turn to her should I have any more. We will be forever grateful for her support.
October 24, 2021Would throughly recommend Nia, really down to earth and non-judgemental. She had helped me look at my dog in a completely different way! Thanks Nia xx
October 16, 2021I cannot thank back to basics enough. She solved all our issues. Lola could not walk on a lead. She constantly pulled and barked and jumped at other dogs. A big lab I found her too powerful to take for a walk. We were shown how to remedy this behaviour. Now she is fantastic on a lead and we can walk her. Worth every penny

Would highly recommend Nia, after a 2hr session Cooper was loose lead walking instead of yanking me along until off lead. The first and last parts of our walk were never enjoyable but now I have a little panic and look down to make sure he's still there! (my back and sanity thank you!). We worked on other things too such as recall and Nia made sure I fully understood each technique before moving on to the next. The session was really educational and Nia followed up with a call a few weeks later to see how things were going. Honestly we can't thank you enough. I first saw Bark to Basics advertised well over a year ago and thought 'no it's OK, my dog will get better' but it wasn't the dog that needed to get better, it was me! I'm so glad I booked the session, just wish I hadn't hesitated! Thanks again ❤
August 28, 2021Would highly recommend Nia, after a 2 hour session with her we have gained so much knowledge on how to manage our dogs behaviour. Nia is very friendly, calm and professional. If your having any issue with your dog do not hesitate to contact her. We can’t thank you enough 💗
June 21, 2021Nia was brilliant, gave me lots of really good advice and explained fully how to manage my dogs behaviour. We implemented all the advice Nia gave us and things have vastly improved. Nia followed up the session with an email going over all the advice she had given us and a phone call to iron out any other issues. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Nia, her knowledge and service was excellent. I was concerned that my dog is an older dog but turns out you can teach a old dog new tricks! Thanks Nia
June 4, 2021I have a 9mth old Collie cross who would practically pull me off my feet on the lead and I completely lost my nerve taking him out on my own as he would lunge at traffic. We had one private session with Nia, and it was amazing. I now feel in change of our walks, and although we are still a work in progress, I am confident to take him out on my own and use lots of distraction techniques! Nia took the time to explain the strategies she gave us, and it has made the world of difference. Thank you so much for your help Nia, I would recommend you to anyone 🐾

Would highly recommend Nia as I had a pulling dog and was not enjoyable to walk we now love our daily walks and within an hour we had it solved Thank you Nia Joanna and Ralph
May 7, 2021Can't thank Nia enough. As soon as she walked into the house Chev was like a different dog. It has taken work but he has finally settled down within the house. I am actually able to walk him myself without being dragged the road behind him 😂 Follow up from Nia was spot on too, even answered questions and gave advice about things that weren't the main issue. Thank you so much, Can't recommend highly enough!
April 3, 2021I would highly recommend Nia for dog training, she helped turn our stressful walks with a dog who lunged and reacted to other dogs, into calm and stress-free walks with a dog who now ignores all other dogs when he’s on a lead! The session was worth every penny and I wouldn’t hesitate to call her again if we feel it’s necessary for anything else!
March 14, 2021Our dog was becoming reactive on the lead due to anxiety. Nia was brill, since our session Buzz is so much more confident (still an absolute baby at times despite his size) but he's so much better and I am. Much more confident with him. We saw nia last year and have worked in his manners, he couldn't be more polite now. Thanks Nia

We asked Nia to come and help us with Ted, our 5 year old lab/collie cross who pulled significantly on the lead and was very reactive to other dogs. Nia was amazing. She has advised us on how to keep Ted calm from the moment we leave the house, how to read his body language and intervene before the reactivity starts. Within 2 hours it was like walking a different dog. Thank you so much!
December 6, 2020**ALL DONE IN LINE WITH CURRENT COVID RESTRICTIONS IN PLACE** Had 1-2-1 with my Dog this afternoon, wow I learnt so much and felt so much more confident leaving there. We needed help with on the lead pulling and lunging. Nia not only helped with the technics by demonstrating and watching me doing it so it was being done correctly . We sat and talked to find out root causes and ways to deal with them. I got home and started putting little things into practice. It made a difference straight away. This person is amazing, I would highly recommend bark to basics. Thank you so much for making a huge difference 🐶 🐾 🐾🐶
September 30, 2020Took my dog for some help with his lead work. Nia was really helpful and informative. She helped us understand how and why our dogs respond to other dogs on the lead. Nia was so helpful and encouraging during exercises. She showed the technique then allowed us to practice and was on hand to make adjustments. I would highly recommend Bark to Basics to anyone!
September 29, 2020I contacted Nia a few weeks ago as my dog was getting stressed and running around in circles whenever my baby cried. We went through some games to help distract her, as well as some ways I could desensitise her from the baby crying. There's still some way to go with the training, but I've seen huge improvements in my dogs overall behaviour even in ways that we never directly addressed. For example, instead of chasing the hoover, my dog now sits on the sofa whilst I hoover around her. Would definitely recommend!

Nia paid a visit to us to help with our labradoodle puppy who was pulling on the lead. Nia showed us lots of useful (and successful!) skills which are making all the difference. Our puppy is large and has a lot of energy so nia has showed us ways to divert her attention and calm her down. Nia has been a massive help and we are grateful for her knowledge!
September 2, 2020Nia has been fantastic when working with us and our two cockapoos. She first helped us a few years a go with some lead work with our then 2 year old cockapoo, Henry. She taught us how to ensure Henry was calm and relaxed before leaving the house and how to make sure that we, as owners, were more exciting and interesting than anything else on the walk. We now have many strategies we use to engage and interest him on walks that prevent him from lunging and pulling. Having been so impressed with Nia and Bark to Basics we asked her to return to help us with our 10 month old cockapoo, Hugo, who was barking at dogs constantly. Nia explained the thought process he was going through and taught us how to make him feel calm and protected when approaching and passing other dogs. We have seen a huge change in him and he is certainly becoming more confident around other dogs. We highly recommend Bark to Basics and look forward to inviting Nia back to see the progress we have made! Thank you Bark to Basics! 💜 (photos for cuteness 😂)
August 4, 2020A home visit to Gwennie, our beloved beautiful natured Bernese Mountain Dog pup, has given us back some confidence and provided us with lots of sound advice which we are putting into practice. We have seen great improvements in our handling of a very strong dog who can be over exuberant with dogs and people that she wants to play with. Gwennie’s recall has improved and she is much more responsive to commands. We highly recommend Nia who took time to understand the issues, demonstrated techniques, and has followed up with us. Thank you!
August 1, 2020Nia visited our house to meet our dog Dug who is very nervous of anything and everyone. She opened our eyes and told us information that has enabled us to have more understanding of our fur baby. Nia gave us tasked to do slowly with him to help desensitise Dug but explained he will always be a little sensitive to situations. We have implemented her tasked and can already see a brave and more loving Dug. Truly amazing lady, so glad I stumbled across her page. thank you so much! 🐕💝
